Mamba mentality? Darrelle Revis shares interesting view of his place among great NFL cornerbacks

The cornerback wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame is expanding this summer with the addition of Darrelle Revis. The former resident of "Revis Island" — a population of one — recently spoke with TMZ Sports about how he views himself in relation to another of the sport's all-time greats, cornerback Deion "Prime Time" Sanders.

"As Kobe is to Jordan, 'Revis Island' is to 'Prime Time'," Revis said.,

He recalled NBA legend Michael Jordan poking at Kobe Bryant for implementing some of Jordan's own moves as Bryant grew into the best basketball player on the planet during the 2000s.

"Jordan would always say, 'Kobe always stealing my moves!' I think that's the same [with me and Deion]. I tried to mimic the greats as much as I could," Revis said.

Revis had 29 career interceptions, but that only tells part of the story. He was a shutdown corner, and QBs wisely avoided throwing in his direction.

In the 1990s, Jordan and Sanders were transcendent stars who retired in their mid-30s and then came back to their respective sports. They each also each took their talents to the baseball diamond.

Jordan played for the White Sox's organization in 1994, but he never had the talent to play in MLB. He showed flashes, though. During an exhibition game against the crosstown rival Cubs, he drove in a run on a double down the third base line.

Sanders was a two-sport star, playing nine seasons in MLB with the Braves, Giants, Reds and Yankees, and was a career .263 batter. He showed off his dynamic speed and athleticism on this inside-the-park home run for the Yankees in 1990.

Revis never played Major League Baseball. He was content muzzling wide receivers for a living.
