Darrelle Revis is a surefire Hall of Famer, but will he make it in Year 1?

In 155 career games (145 regular season, 10 postseason), Revis recorded 32 interceptions. He made seven Pro Bowls, four All-Pro teams and won a Super Bowl in 2014 with New England. 

Per Pro Football Focus, QBs had a passer rating of 65.6 when targeting Revis — the NFL average is 79.2 — and threw more interceptions (29) than touchdowns (24) in 145 regular-season games. There's a reason "Revis Island" was a thing, and it wasn't because receivers enjoyed the view. 

He was seen as the best cornerback in football for years and constantly drew the toughest assignments from offenses.

Revis spent the majority of his career with the New York Jets and will enter the team's Ring of Honor this Sunday.

Last year, Jets chairman Woody Johnson tweeted a video clip reminiscing on one memorable game where Revis drew a matchup against Hall of Fame receiver Calvin Johnson in a game against the Detroit Lions.

Revis came away with two big pass breakups that game, one on a deep pass attempt and one in the end zone to prevent a touchdown.

He was arguably the most dominant defensive back in football in an era when passing offenses exploded. 

The only question about his candidacy is whether his name will be called this year or if he'll have to wait a year. There are 27 other worthy semifinalists, including first-year players such as Joe Thomas, Dwight Freeney and James Harrison. 

There are also players from previous years awaiting a call from the Hall such as wide receivers Andre Johnson and Steve Smith Sr. and kick and punt returner Devin Hester.

The class of 2023 will officially be revealed on Feb. 9, 2023. When the finalists are announced, Revis shouldn't be standing on an island. He'll be with his peers in the Hall of Fame.
