Anthony Edwards reveals how he is different from ‘GOAT’ Michael Jordan: 'I can shoot the three'

I want people to be like, 'This Anthony Edwards kid, he's got his own style. He's maybe got a mix of Michael Jordan in him.' But, I've got a trey ball, I can shoot the three. So, I think that makes me a little different than Michael Jordan. Anthony Edwards told Malika Andrews on GMA

However, Edwards has a long way to go to reach the six-time NBA champion’s level of success. But there’s no denying that Edwards is on the right track, as his efforts have led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 2-0 lead over the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the playoffs.

Furthermore, there’s a talk going around that if Edwards can lead the T-Wolves to a championship this season, it would be a significant achievement, considering that His Airness didn’t win his first title until he was 27. To most players, such comparison may seem unfair, but it’s different for Edwards who is carving out his own path and making a name for himself in the NBA.

Chris Finch talks about the Anthony Edwards-Michael Jordan comparison 

Anthony Edwards is making a name for himself in the 2024 NBA playoffs, as he has led the Timberwolves to a well-earned 2-0 lead over the Denver Nuggets. His scoring and tenacity have drawn comparisons to a young Michael Jordan, although he has asked it to stop.

Minnesota Timberwolves Coach Chris Finch acknowledged the similarities but stressed that Edwards needs to improve to attain championship-level success. He went further and praised Edwards’ confidence and ability to shine in big moments.

Stylistically, [the Michael Jordan comparisons] might be [fair]. I think there's a long way to go, of course, in terms of championship level, sustainability, and all that. The confidence is there, the swagger is there…I can tell you that it's 100 percent real. Chris Finch said

Anthony Edwards this season’s playoffs is averaging 32.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. Furthermore, his learning ability and self-awareness have not only impressed Finch but the basketball community as a whole.
